Warren Lotas is back with another bootleg anime collection, this time taking on the world of Dragon Ball Z with a drop that the Los Angeles designer claims will be his final anime bootleg project.
Following his recent bootleg Pokémon collection, Lotas is turning his attention to one of the biggest anime franchises of all time. Dubbed “The Last Dance,” the collection features tees and hoodies covered in his signature character-turned-skeleton graphics, reworking familiar DBZ characters through his irreverent lens.
Goku, Gohan, Majin Buu, Cell, Orange Piccolo, Omega Shenron, the Androids, and more make appearances throughout the collection. Every shirt also features a Shenron dragon graphic across the back.
Lotas is also changing up the way the collection will be sold. Rather than following the made-to-order model that caused shipping delays in his previous releases, the new pieces are pre-made and ready to ship. “The fellas learned their hard lesson,” Lotas says.
Lotas’ history with bootleg designs has already landed him in legal trouble. In 2020, Nike sued the designer over his unauthorized Dunk designs, with the case ultimately ending in a settlement. Lotas is now risking another lawsuit with this drop, though for his sake, let’s hope Toei Animation and Akira Toriyama’s estate let it slide.
