One thing that makes adidas and Yohji Yamamoto collaborations so special is the unconventional styles that they bring to the table. Following their recently retro’d Y-3 Qasa High, Yamamoto’s Y’s womenswear line connects with adidas on a new SEEULATER x GSG9 hybrid model.
Releasing in two colorways, the hybrid silhouette is semi-based on the quintessential adidas SEEULATER trail shoe originally released back in 1995 as a part of adidas ADVENTURE series. In addition, Yamamoto borrows the adidas GSG9’s tactical outsole originally made for German police to create the hybrid silhouette. While staying true as a hiking shoe, the design allows for functional daily wear incorporating a Japanese aesthetic.
The upper consists of a combination of a mesh knit base and smooth cow leather overlays. The black colorway comes with an all-black upper with minimal white detailing, while the white colorway adds contrast with a white upper, a black mesh sock, and red detailing. The side panel displays Y’s branding along with “SUPER POSITION” in box logo format.
The Y’s x adidas SEEULATER x GSG9 is available in unisex sizing and officially launches on June 3rd. They are available for pre-order now via the Yohji Yamamoto online shop along with at Yohji Yamamoto storefronts in Japan. Check out both colorways below.
