Edison Chen’s anime world keeps expanding, and this time it’s got Anthony Edwards in it. The CLOT founder’s ongoing adidas Originals partnership returns with a new Superstar colorway and another chapter in the illustrated universe Chen and longtime collaborator Annie Choi have been building throughout the year.
Nicknamed “Coffee” or “Unity Orange,” the shoe is a return to something more familiar after the last Superstar went the other direction entirely—the “Horse Print” dress shoe from CLOT’s Lunar New Year collection, which pushed the silhouette into full-on formalwear territory. This one leans back into a coffee-and-cream palette with a premium leather upper and a bright Unity Orange pebbled leather welt running underneath for contrast. Details include perforated quarter panels, serrated edges on the heel tabs, side stripes, and eyestays, and gold accents on the tongue and laces tips. The deep, tooth-like tread on the outsole also makes its return, keeping some of that formalwear energy while not overdoing it.
On the storytelling side, Choi’s artwork puts Edwards inside the same anime framework as CLOT’s Mundial Collection from earlier this summer. Where that release was rooted in football ahead of the World Cup, this one shifts back to Chen’s broader themes of heritage, self-expression, and the tension between where something comes from and who is wearing it now.
The CLOT x adidas Superstar “Unity Orange” by Edison Chen drops July 25th via the adidas website, the CONFIRMED app, JUICE STORE, and select retailers.
