JJJJound is continuing its New Balance partnership with a new take on the 990v3, swapping the silhouette’s traditional mesh construction for an all-suede upper in a muted tan hue.
The upcoming release puts a fresh spin on the heritage Made in USA runner, using premium suede across the upper for a more elevated, monochromatic look. Black accents across the outsole, trims, and signature “N” branding provide contrast, with additional black New Balance branding embroidered on the tongue.
The project continues JJJJound’s exploration of suede across its New Balance collaborations, reworking a familiar performance silhouette through a more material-focused approach. It also follows the duo’s recent 740 collaboration, which reimagined the retro runner with a no-sew construction.
JJJJound and New Balance have a history with the 990v3, dating back to their first collaboration in 2018, followed by additional colorways in 2022 and beyond. The Montreal-based studio is the only collaborator besides Kith to touch the 990v3 in 2026, keeping the design understated while making its material change the main attraction.
