Target Celebrates 30th Anniversary of Pokémon with Exclusive Collection

Over 100 items are releasing across two separate drops.

Pokémon’s 30th anniversary celebration is in full force. Following collaborations with the likes of LEGO and PUMA, the beloved gaming and anime franchise is now teaming up with Target on an exclusive collection for this year’s milestone.

Comprised of over 100 items, the collection has something for everyone, but the standout piece might be the Kanto pullover jacket by Starter. Modeled by longtime Pokémon fan Joe Jonas in the lookbook, the jacket comes in a blue, red, and yellow color scheme inspired by the Gen 1 Pokémon games and features the Kanto region’s eight gym badges hidden on the pouch pocket flap.

The collection extends beyond apparel, spanning accessories, home goods, electronics, food and beverage, and more, including nostalgic brand collaborations with the likes of Mead, Caboodles, Lip Smacker, and the aforementioned Starter. Some of the more fun accessories include Trapper Keepers, kickballs, Butterfree hair clips, life-size 151-piece puzzles, and a blind box water bottle featuring one of six Water-type Pokémon: Squirtle, Psyduck, Magikarp, Gyarados, Slowpoke, and Totodile.

“We know our guests love Pokémon, and we worked with the brand to make this 30th celebration really fun and exciting — even tapping long-time fans within our own team to design it,” says Gigi Guerra, vice president of creative curation at Target. “It’s a clear expression of how Target leads with merchandising authority — bringing together our trend expertise and deep fan insights to create what guests are excited about right now, in a way that’s unmistakably and exclusively Target.”

To celebrate the launch, Target stores will host immersive experiences and giveaways, including Target SoHo in New York City, which will feature interactive elements like character meet-and-greets and photo opportunities inspired by the world of Pokémon.

The Pokémon x Target collection will release in two separate drops. Drop 1 will be available May 2nd in-store and May 3rd online, while Drop 2 will launch on June 6th. Check out the lookbook photos below.
